The North Carolina League of Municipalities, formed in 1908, is a non-partisan federation of more than 540 municipalities in the state. It is the only statewide organization devoted to representing the officials of cities, towns and villages at the state and federal levels.
Our services include lobbying, contract studies, legal assistance, advice, consultations, training, meetings and conferences.
Another way the League serves its members — and keeps them informed of services, issues and events — is with its publications.
Southern City is a monthly news magazine for and about municipal government. It is the publication that municipal officials turn to when they want municipal government news such as League activities; news from the National League of Cities; state and federal legislative issues; economic, environmental and legal issues; innovations; interesting facts about member municipalities and their officials and personnel; news from other states; and financial tips and economic conditions for municipal governments.
League Letter is a newsletter with brief items of interest and news of upcoming events, published the first week of each month.
NCLM Directory and Buyers’ Guide is a directory of North Carolina municipal officials is published annually in the spring. It gives information about each active municipality including address, phone and fax numbers, office hours, meeting schedule, services provided, size, population, and lists of both elected and key appointed officials. Each municipality receives a directory. It is also available for purchase. A separate section of the directory, the Buyers’ Guide, features information about firms that provide services or products to municipalities. Note: No directory this year.
NCLM Annual Conference — held in October each year — is another advertising option available. Sponsorship opportunities and exhibit spaces are available.
