Attend a meeting on coastal offshore wind energy

The Energy Division of the N.C. Department of Commerce cordially invites you to attend one of two meetings regarding coastal offshore wind energy.

A meeting will be held on Friday, August 20, at the Morehead City Train Depot, 1001 Arendell Street,  in downtown Morehead City.  The meeting will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and will include presentations by the Energy Division and the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management regarding the leasing of offshore waters for wind energy development and the current status of offshore wind technology. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the process for siting offshore wind facilities, to meet the federal officials who will be involved in this process, and to raise any questions that you may have regarding offshore wind energy issues.

If you are unable to attend, a similar meeting will be held on Thursday, August 19, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at the Albert Coates Local Government Center, 215 North Dawson Street, in Raleigh.  As another option, you are invited to attend this meeting, which will also include staff from the N.C. League of Municipalities and N.C. Association of County Commissioners.

If you are able to attend one of the these scheduled meetings, please email or call Larry Shirley, Director of the Green Economy, NC Department of Commerce, at 919-716-0110 or lshirley@nccommerce.com
