Need to find League staff members?

Updated on July 1, 2011

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Where? Where’s the League staff at the Albert Coates Local Government Center?

Answer: Temporarily gone from their offices in the Albert Coates Local Government Center (215 N. Dawson St.), headquarters of the League since 1979.

But where did they go and why are they gone?

The NCLM staff members with offices in the Coates Center have been relocated temporarily to the League’s adjacent office buildings while the League’s space in the Coates Center is renovated. For the next nine to 12 months, staff will be located in the S. Leigh Wilson Building and the David E. Reynolds Building. Both buildings are just across the parking lot from the Albert Coates Local Government Center.

“Instead of renting space during the renovations, we are using basement storage space, conference rooms and doubling up in offices,” said Charles Archer, the League’s associate director for operations and federal relations. “It is far from ideal office space, and things will be crowded for a time, but it is a relatively short time, and it is a cost-effective solution that keeps us together.”

Who is where?

NCLM Executive Director S. Ellis Hankins has relocated his office to the third floor of the Reynolds Building, and his executive assistant, Regan B. Reynolds, has office space nearby. Hankins and Reynolds can be reached at the same phone numbers and email addresses.

The League’s Legal DepartmentKim Hibbard, John Phelps and Greg Schwitzgebel — are in offices on the second floor of the Reynolds Building. Again, there are no changes in phone numbers or email addresses.

The Public Affairs Department, Matt Lail and Dana Davis Bayley, now is housed in Room 236 on the second floor of the Reynolds Building. All have the same phone numbers and email addresses.

The David E. Reynolds Building was built in the late 1990s. The staff of the Risk Management and Member Services, Operations and Federal Relations, Finance, and Information and Technology Departments already were located in this building.

The Governmental Affairs Department offices now are located in the walk-out basement level of the Wilson Building. Staff of this department include: Kelli Kukura, Paul Meyer, Daniel Amburn, Karl Knapp, Jennifer Webb, Chris Nida and Erin Wynia. Julie White, director of the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition, also is located in the Wilson Building, as is Shenise Oakley, staff assistant of the Metro Coalition. Also, Lori Moye, a staff associate, has her office in the Wilson Building to provide administrative support to the Governmental Affairs Department. All phone numbers and emails remain the same.

The Wilson Building is a two-story building, constructed in the late 1980s to house the League’s insurance operations. It is located at the corner of Dawson and Jones Sts.

Renovations

The Coates building will be getting a new roof and upgrades to the HVAC system. The League’s office space has not been extensively renovated since the building’s construction in the late 1970s. The space will be reconfigured to reflect current and future needs. The construction phase of the project is scheduled to begin in the spring and last approximately nine months.
