FY2010-11 Budget Approved by General Assembly, Signed by Governor

July 01, 2010

Both the North Carolina House and Senate gave final approval Wednesday to Senate Bill 897, the state budget for fiscal year 2010-11. The budget was then signed by Governor Beverly Perdue Wednesday evening, the first time since 2003 that a state budget has been completed before the start of the next fiscal year.

“I signed a budget today that does more with less, but still keeps North Carolina moving forward toward a full economic recovery,” Gov. Perdue said in a press release. “This year was tough, but next year will be tougher. This budget puts our state on firm ground as we head towards the challenges of next year.”

As previously noted, the budget does not adversely impact any municipal revenues and does set up the Mobility Fund originally proposed by Gov. Perdue. It does not, however, contain any supplemental Powell Bill or interstate maintenance funding as part of the Fund.
