The Department is nearly finished finalizing the scores of approximately 1200 highway projects, 600 bike-ped projects and nearly 100 transit projects. We anticipate releasing the scores around the end of January. The next step in the process is to conduct transportation investment strategy summits as we previously mentioned during P2.0 Workgroup meetings. The primary audience for these summits are our key planning partners like the MPO and RPO Technical Coordinating Committees (TCC) and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) members and staff and NCDOT Division personnel. However, if you have members who are interested in attending, we welcome their participation.
The Department will host seven summit sessions in locations that are geographically aligned with the Department’s 7 funding regions. Each summit will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The morning session will consist of participants being asked to recommend a statewide transportation investment strategy across all modes. The afternoon session will focus more on highways and consist of participants being asked to recommend a Division-wide investment strategy for equity-based programs. The output of these summits is presented to the Board of Transportation and Department staff to assist in determining future investment policy and to draft the next State Transportation Improvement Program. More details and pre-reading materials will be forthcoming and we will send them to you as they are finalized.
We have separately sent this information to the MPO’s, RPO’s, and Division Engineers.
