Essentials of Municipal Government to be held
January-March 2008

Essentials of Municipal Government is a program designed to help you understand the basics of municipal government and identify strategies to address the range of challenges you face leading and governing North Carolina's municipalities. Instructors for the program include faculty from the School of Government , staff from the NC League of Municipalities (NCLM), and local government officials.

WHEN AND WHERE?

This two-and-a-half day program begins with registration at 7:30 a.m. The first session begins at 8:30 a.m. on Day 1 and concludes on Day 3 with an NCLM luncheon.

 

REGISTRATION

The $325.00 per person fee includes the program notebook, handouts, a continental breakfast and lunch each day and refreshments during breaks.

 

This year participants have the opportunity to register and pay (with a Visa or Mastercard) online by going to: http://www.sog.unc.edu/programs/ncboards/ and clicking on Essentials of Municipal Government.

 

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

A limited number of scholarships are available for municipalities with populations of 1,000 or less. Elected officials who have not previously attended Essentials are eligible to apply. Scholarships will cover the cost of registration. All other costs are the responsibility of each recipient or municipality (e.g. lodging, food, mileage).
