League and DENR collaborate to offer solid waste data
Under the direction of the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) annually surveys local governments on solid waste collection services and practices. DENR publishes a report that summarizes response data and explains statewide trends in solid waste management.
DENR's report does not include survey response information from each participating local government. The North Carolina League of Municipalities recognizes that this information can assist local governments in benchmarking activities. The League has collaborated with DENR to organize and publish this data in Excel documents that can be downloaded and manipulated for various analyses.
This data provides an excellent complement to the League's regular report "What Are We Doing with Garbage?" While the DENR report includes municipal and non-municipal providers and details trends in solid waste reduction, the League's report concentrates on information related to the administration of municipal solid waste services.
