NCLM regional meetings in 2008 will be at the held at the end of every session of the Essentials of Municipal Government, the basic training program for elected officials offered by the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government and the League.
If you are going to attend an Essentials session, you will automatically be registered to attend the NCLM Legislative Luncheon at that location.
If you don't plan to attend an Essentials session, register to attend one of the six NCLM Regional Legislative Luncheons.
The League's yearly regional meetings to discuss legislative issues will be held as the final luncheon of each of the six sessions of the Essentials of Municipal Government. This scheduling will make it convenient for hundreds of newly elected municipal elected officials to attend both the Essentials course and the League's Regional Legislative Luncheon in one trip.
The Legislative Luncheons, however, are not just for the newly elected. Each event will provide information on the critical municipal issues likely to come up when the General Assembly convenes in May. The League encourages both elected officials and municipal staff to attend.
League officials will discuss the importance of municipal officials working effectively with their legislators and how to establish effective, positive partnerships. Three critical municipal issues – public facilities (infrastructure), annexation and collective bargaining – will be highlighted. Come find out about the opportunities and potential threats ahead for your city or town.
Cost for the luncheon is $22 per person.
Please note: If a person is registered for a session of the Essentials of Municipal Government, he or she is automatically registered for the League's Legislative Luncheon and no additional registration or payment is required.
