Lenoir, Reidsville named All America Cities
The cities of Lenoir and Reidsville were named All-America Cities on June 6 in Tampa, Fla.
This National Civic League program is the most prestigious citizen engagement award in the country. Each year the NCL names 10 All-America City winners.
"We are thrilled to win this award on our first time as a finalist," Reidsville Mayor James K. Festerman said. "This means so much to our city, which has pulled together to provide these humanitarian services to our community."
The year-long application and presentation process to become an All-American City was spearheaded by the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce and included 150 people that worked on the application and three-part presentation process.
"We always knew that Lenoir was an All-America City and now the National Civic League confirms that we are truly an All-America City," said Lenoir Mayor David Barlow. "We have so many positive programs, partnerships, and wonderful citizens in our All America City of Lenoir. We are blessed to live in a community where all of us work together to solve problems and make our city stronger."
Other 2008 AAC winning cities are: Akron, Ohio; Gladstone, Mo ; New Haven, Connecticut; Aurora, Co., Kissimee, FL., Goodyear, AZ; St. Louis, Mo. ; and Cerritos, CA.
